Helping at Services

The churchwardens are assisted by a team of people who help with the following:

Sidespeople and Hosts: greet people on arrival, give out service sheets and newsletters and help to make them feel welcome, especially if they are new to the parish.

Readers: there are one or two readings at each service, which are normally read by members of the congregation. Some training is available for volunteers.

Intercessions (Prayers): These are usually led by a member of the congregation, although they follow a set pattern.

There are rotas for all the above helpers, compiled by the churchwardens, usually for 3/4 month periods. If you want to volunteer, talk to one of the churchwardens after any of the services, and they will explain what is involved.
