The room used for the crèche is the Choir Vestry (where the choir prepares for services) and parents and children gather at the back of the church until the choir has left the vestry at the beginning of the service. Crèche then begins as soon as safety gates are put in place and toys removed from their cupboards! Children are collected before Communion, when all the children rejoin the congregation from their various groups. Parents are welcome in the crèche
at any time, and a loudspeaker system which broadcasts into the vestry
allows them to follow the service. Because of the proximity of the crèche
to the body of the church, parents can easily be contacted if there is
a problem, such as their child being unwell or distressed. Crèche
is run by volunteers, usually one adult and one young person per session,
and each person helps at a session once every 3 or 4 months. New volunteers
are always welcome and if you would like to help or if you would like
any further information, then please contact Margaret.
