Robert Cotton, Rector

I studied Maths and Philosophy at Merton College, Oxford before deciding to be ordained. My theological training took place at the Roman Catholic Seminary at Leuven, Belgium and at Westcott House, Cambridge.

I was a curate in Bromley, Kent before coming to Bisley and West End in this Diocese. In 1989, I became Vicar of St. Paul’s, East Molesey and Principal of the Guildford Diocesan Ministry Course which trains Ordained Local Ministers and Lay Readers. In 1996 I was inducted as Rector of this parish.

One of the great joys for me in coming to Guildford (apart from my work) has been the local countryside. Walking our dog in the Chantries, over the Downs or up Chinthurst Hill is a regular and profound pleasure.

I married Hilary in 1987 and we have two children, Zoë and Michael.
